Spotlight Questions
- Why did you join Waldron?
- In 2018, after spending what felt like a lifetime at my former employer (34 years), it was finally time for me to make a change. I was very intentional about my next move. There was a lot of chatter in Pittsburgh about “Waldron”. I was intrigued by the culture and felt Waldron would be a natural fit for me. I reached out and as fate would have it, Waldron was in the process of building out their Business Development team.
- What is the best advice you have ever received?
- From my father: ”Your reputation is your most valuable asset – protect it because it will follow and define you in the eyes of others.”
- Which of Waldron’s cultural values resonates with you the most?
- We are Driven to Make a Difference.
- What is your favorite memory since working at Waldron?
- My first large event I planned in the Spring of 2019 – was to celebrate Waldron being named #1 Top Financial Advisor in Pittsburgh by Barron’s in Sept. 2018. The “Driven to Number One” event held at the new Audi dealership in Pittsburgh’s Industrial Strip District celebrated that accomplishment.
- What do you find most rewarding in working at Waldron?
- The friendships I have fostered with Waldron colleagues.
- What advice would you give to your younger self?
- Don’t let your decisions be influenced by others. Follow your gut and stick to your guns.
- What is your favorite quote or motto?
- “I’m suspicious of people who don’t like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn’t like a person.” (Bill Murray)
- How did you get started in the industry?
- By accident – I was drawn networking activities and the relationship development built around them. I created a unique niche for myself in the financial industry bridging strategic financial event planning and business development.
- What does leadership look like to you?
- This one is easy – integrity, integrity, integrity! The best leaders are those who can be trusted, who also have the ability to “follow “ while leading. One does not need to be in a management role to be a leader. A great leader listens without initial reaction, puts thought into their response/advice, and above all, keeps the confidence.
