John is the Founder and CEO of Waldron Private Wealth, leading our organization’s mission to simplify the complexities of wealth in our clients’ lives.
He has been helping entrepreneurs find their way for more than 40 years, whether in evolving their businesses, managing their assets, or transitioning to retirement. After graduation from Robert Morris University in 1982, he began a public accounting career at Price Waterhouse in Miami, focusing on tax and financial planning for privately held companies and their owners, as well as domestic and international trust planning, and business consulting.
John left Price Waterhouse to join Deloitte in Pittsburgh in 1986. With Deloitte, he continued his domestic and international tax work for business owners and was part of a 14-person national executive financial planning practice. In that capacity, he managed the financial planning and investment affairs for many of the top executives and board members of the world’s largest audit and tax clients, as well as owners of closely held businesses.
In 1990, John left his career in public accounting to pursue his entrepreneurial instincts and create a unique wealth management practice integrating an “independent” investment management service into the complex financial, tax, and family lives of his clientele. In 1995, he founded Waldron Private Wealth, a new type of wealth management firm, built specifically to serve the unique needs of business owners, families of multigenerational wealth, and corporate executives.
Since then, John has led Waldron to national ranking recognition, including being named the #1 Wealth Advisor in Pennsylvania in Forbes 2019 “Best in State” rankings and being one of only 12 firms nationwide ranking in Barron’s “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors” each of the 13 years the rankings have been published.
